Andy Whitfield, who is starring television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand died at the age of 39 years. Whitfield died in Sydney, Australia, 18 months after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"On a beautiful day in Sydney with his wife surrounded by family, Andy Whitfield finally gave up after struggling for 18 months against lymphoma cancer," the statement released by Whitfield's wife, Vashti.
"He died peacefully surrounded by love. Thanks to the supporters who give love and support that made him survive until now. He will be known as a brave man, inspiring, and gentle," added the official statement.
Andy Whitfield was born in Wales but moved to Australia since 1999. He had not known until elected to portray the character of Spartacus, a role made famous by Kirk Douglas in the film output of 1960.
Successful television series on Starz television station and became the talk of as many elements of violence and sex in it.
Whitfield appeared in all 13 episodes from the first season of the series that aired in 2010 and was preparing to shoot a second season when he was diagnosed with cancer.
